The Cosmelan De-Pigmentation Peel treatment consists of a specialised system aiming to:

• Reduce all types of skin pigmentation including melasma and post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation.

What is the process?

The Cosmelan De-Pigmentation Peel is a 2-step process. Step 1 is done in the clinic, and step 2 is done by you at home in addition to skin maintenance appointments in-clinic.

During your consultation you will speak with one of our skin experts and they will help to determine which Cosmelan package will be best suited to you. Getting a Cosmelan Peel is relatively quick and painless, with little downtime. You will however need to be tenacious with the regime for the 6 months following your Peel in order to get the results you desire.

Depending on the condition of your skin and also the products you currently use, your skin may need to be prepared in the month leading up to your Cosmelan Peel, so it is recommended you allow for this additional time and book your consultation ASAP.

One important thing to note is that once applied, the mask has to be worn for a period of time following application (8-12 hours) and has an appearance similar to smooth peanut butter. Because of the time needed for the peel to develop on the skin, we will apply the mask in the morning. Fortunately you can make a quick escape to your car via the lift located on our level down to the carpark - though it is not terribly unattractive as you can see below:

Step 1: After determining the best course of action for your unique concerns, the peel is applied by one of our skin experts who, strictly following the protocol, applies the degreasing solution and face mask in the clinic. This first step involves the application of a thick, peanut butter-like cream. The mask contains Azelaic Acid, Kojic Acid, Phytic Acid, Ascorbic Acid, Arbutine, and Titanium Dioxide and is non-toxic.

Once the mask has been applied you can return home, but you must avoid exposure to sources of light and heat. The mask should remain on the face for 8-12 hours, though the total amount of time depends on your skin type and the amount of hyperpigmentation being treated. Your unique treatment time will be determined by your skin expert at The Beauty Collective during your initial consultation and you must ensure you carefully follow your unique written instructions - All of which will be given to you during step 1 in-clinic.

Step 2: At the end of the time specified by your Beauty Collective expert, you will remove the mask at home, carefully cleansing the application area with plenty of lukewarm water. It is important that you never exceed your unique recommended application time.

The second step in the process is a daily at-home application of products that helps to maintain the results achieved with the Cosmelan Peel, whilst preventing the appearance of new dark spots and areas of hyperpigmentation. The active Cosmelan Peel process continues at home 48-hours after its removal, and on day 3 a special Cosmelan specific facial and mask will be applied to soothe the skin, along with a HEALITE II LED session to greatly speed up heal time and further produce collagen. This will feel like heaven as at this point you will be red and possibly slightly swollen.

As mentioned above, your skin expert at The Beauty Collective will give you detailed, easy to follow instructions, to ensure the desired result is achieved. The complete home treatment lasts for 6 months and consistency is essential to ensure the guaranteed results.

Following the initial treatment, the your pigment will appear lighter in colour, and you will begin to notice results fairly quickly which will continue to improve over the course of the treatment.

How much does the Cosmelan De-Pigmentation Peel cost?

At The Beauty Collective we offer a range of package options depending on your budget. We highly recommend ‘The Deluxe’ or ‘The Ultimate’ options which include generous follow up facial treatments and HEALITE II LED Light Therapy sessions, as these have been shown to drastically speed up healing time and further improve results.

The Basic Package - $1,480

‘The Basic’ package is a cost efficient solution that is mainly recommend for those who live out-of-area and who may not be able to commit to the full regime of follow up treatments. It may also be sufficient for those who have done Cosmelan previously and would like a refresh, though this should be determined in-clinic by one of our skin experts.

The Standard $1,699 - (RRP Value of $2,133)

The Standard package includes all of Cosmelan’s recommended protocols and will ensure your skin receives the just right amount of nourishment when it needs it. Skin can feel dry and sensitive on the Cosmelan journey at times, and as you are unable to have any other skin treatments during the 6 month program, the two additional facial treatments and LED sessions included in this package will be just what the Dr ordered.

The Deluxe $2,199 - (RRP Value of $2,791)

The Deluxe is the gold-standard for the Cosmelan De-Pigmentation Peel and combines all of Cosmelan’s recommended protocols. As you will not be able to have any other skin treatments during the 6 months of your Cosmelan journey, the Deluxe offers you a regime that will keep you looking and feeling refreshed and nourished. Your skin will need proper care during your journey, so you will be forever grateful that you’ve got 3 Age Element Facials and 3 HEALITE II LED session up your sleeve during this time. Keep your skin feeling nourished and also ensure you get the best results from your Cosmelan journey with The Deluxe package.

The Ultimate $2,499 - (RRP Value of $3,449)

The Ultimate package is the most recommended plan by the makers of Cosmelan, as well as us here at The Beauty Collective, if you wish to maximise results, reduce treatment downtime AND get the best value overall. During your 6 months on the Cosmelan program, you are unable to have any others skin treatments during this time, apart from the recommended Mesoestetic facials and the HEALITE II. As your skin will be prone to dryness and also sensitivity, this package you will ensure you get the most nourishment and care available to you, but also that you get that extra bit of pampering and look fabulous throughout your Cosmelan journey. For the ultimate results, go with The Ultimate package.

Who is not suitable?

Cosmelan is not suitable for people who:

• Have active Rosacea.

• Are on Ora Isotretinoin (Roaccutane and Accutane). If you have stopped taking these medications you will not be eligible for Cosmelan for 6 months afterwards.

• Use topical hydroquinone. If you do, you must cease using it for 12 weeks before doing the Cosmelan Peel.

• Currently have an active infection in the area to be treated.

• Are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.

• Are under the age of 12.

Things to know before your treatment:

Post Cosmelan moderate to strong peeling can be experienced during the first week following the mask. During the second week, mild flakiness and redness may be present. Mild redness can persist for 2-4 weeks following the peel but this may be easily covered with makeup. In general, makeup can be worn once the peeling has stopped, this may be as early as 5 days post treatment.

It is important to ensure you are aware of the following precautions prior to commencement of your Cosmelan treatment:

• NO harsh treatments or laser are to be used for 4 weeks prior to application of the Cosmelan mask. This includes facial waxing and laser.

• DO NOT WAX or LASER for 12 weeks after the Cosmelan mask.  

• No anti-wrinkle or Dermal Filler for 4 weeks prior to the Cosmelan mask.

• After Cosmelan, anti-wrinkle may be used at 8 weeks post treatment. For dermal filler it is 12 weeks post treatment.

• As the pigment rises in the skin it can appear darker at 30, 60 and 90 days.

• Cosmelan does not ensure 100% clearing of pigment – results are individual with the best result being 95% clearance. 

• We do not treat the neck or décolleté as this is a big histamine area and may encourage a histamine response.

• Treat and clear ACNE BEFORE applying cosmelan mask – if you do Cosmelan on acne the acne WILL PURGE.

• Extractions can only be performed 6 to 12 weeks AFTER the cosmelan mask – and only if necessary.

• For people taking photosensitising medication – be careful, this can cause post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation.

• Be aware that exposure to chemicals (perfumes, essential oils, citrus etc), can cause hyper-pigmentation.

• The Contraceptive pill, contraceptive medication and HRT can influence hyperpigmentation and post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation.

• Please be aware that flushing, red skin, vascular, pigment, hypo-pigmentation, moles, etc - these can be revealed more clearly after the hyper-pigmentation has been reduced.
